Pretty Pastels.

I'm getting a bit addicted to very.co.uk ever since setting up my account. Beware though folks, it's pretty easy to get confused and instead of paying straight away on my card I *somehow* managed to set up a credit account and next minute I had £700 to spend (VERY dangerous). After this transaction though I'm going to be sure to pay off my debts to Very and switch the account.

I'd seen some images of Fearne Cotton's catwalk show a while back and checked out her range along with Holly's. To be totally honest, not much caught my eye except from a pastel yellow pleated skirt (yeah, like I need another one) and a heart print jumper. The next day both arrived, the skirt looked absolutely awful on me but the jumper was lovely. I wore it yesterday with my light pink maxi from Primark and some converse. It's so cosy and didn't lose shape at all (you know how sometimes with thinner jumpers the arms tend to go a slightly baggy - or is that just me?).

HOT BRAND: Grandma Swag

Okay of course I'm going to biased as this has been set up by 2 of my closest friends but seriously guys check it out as it's amazing (especially the headwear). Started by 2 girls from West London, Grandma Swag scouts high and low for one off vintage pieces and then adds Grandma's twist - whether its quirky buttons, huge embellishments or beautiful ribbon and silk detailing.

Are you going to the Oscars?

The title of this post is pretty apt as I celebrated one of my friends Birthday this weekend in a bar but the dress I was wearing managed to make me look like I was attending the Oscars!

Last week I was scrolling through Grazia and my eyes came across this little beauty from Very.co.uk. I've never shopped with Very before and it's actually never crossed my mind to even check out their website when I'm shopping online. I know they do a plus line too which is always a bonus for me. This dress is absolutely stunning and probably one of the nicest I own. It's a lovely fit with an elasticated waist and then cape-like arms and drop detail around the neck. I know it's seems a bit too special to wear to a bar but I was dying to wear it ever since its arrival on Thursday. To tone it down slightly I put my leather jacket on over it and just wore some studded ballet pumps from Topshop (which you can hardly see anyway).

This quality of this dress is amazing - I don't even think not one sequin dropped off the whole evening. It's always a bit awkward wearing full sequin clothing - the worry of getting attached to other people and sequins falling off all over the shop! But hats off to Very as I think it's well worth the £120.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Okay, okay it's slightly late but let's be honest most people continue to say those words right up until the end of January so I think I'm okay.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. I spent my NY away this year. I've said for years I want to get out of London and I finally did. 3 of my best friends and I went to Frankfurt for a few days to party hard and see the sights. (More of Frankfurt to come in the next post!).

2011 was a good year. I celebrated my 25th birthday in Vegas, went to Berlin, got muddy at Lovebox festival, met some absolutely INCREDIBLE ladies at Plus London and These Girls Turn Heads got its feet well and truly off the ground and I got to work with a couple of exciting brands. There's a lot more in the pipeline for the blog in 2012 and I can't wait to get some of it off the ground. I'm so pleased that my readership has grown and the relationships I've built through blogging. And yes, like a lot of you, one of my MANY resolution iss to blog more. You girls (and boys) that have full time jobs and still manage to blog everyday I seriously bow down to you!

So, here's what I wore today. I bought this dress in the ASOS sale and originally wanted to wear it for Christmas Eve but ASOS sent me the wrong one. (I'm starting to think the people behind the ASOS Here To Help twitter page actually think I'm mental as I'm always moaning about something - it's not me though I swear!) to be fair to them their customer service is outstanding and I've always had my issues resolved quickly. This dress was only £21.50 and today is the first time I've worn it. I did take it to Frankfurt but it never made an appearance. I was slightly dubious as it's not from ASOS Curve and I thought it may be a bit tight but it fit! There is an elasticated waist though ;) I love the retro chain print on this and the pussy bow, although I do feel ever so slightly like a Secretary.

I wore my new Aran cardigan over the top which was a gift all the way from Ireland! It's the warmest and cosiest item of clothing ever and so soft! I'm pretty sure people who saw me today thought I was absolutely mental not wearing a coat but I just don't like them! I know that sounds weird but I just don't think coats look great on me. Give me a blazer or a cardigan any day.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

For me today has involved indulging in a delicious dinner, slogging out infront of the TV and exchanging presents with my Mum. We've actually just got back from a trip up to Trafalgar Square to see the big Christmas tree and take a walk (trying to burn off the mammoth dinner!). I won't post my outfit of what I wore today as I've been lounging around in track pants, a tee shirt and wool cardigan. I wanted to share my outfit with you which I wore for some Christmas Eve festivities last night with friends. I treated myself last week to the crystal Lobster necklace from Tatty Devine and OMG how gorgeous is it? Definitely my new favourite thing.

THAT Topshop jumper and THAT Zara bag.

I've been reading so many blogs recently referring to the blogger's "uniform". The YSL Arty ring (or a copy of, like moi), a Mulberry Alexa bag (yes, I'm guilty) and pleated maxi skirts (we won't even go there on how many I own again). Now wherever I look EVERYONE seems to have THAT Zara bucket bag and more recently the knitted pastel Topshop jumper.

I bought the Zara bag a few months ago in Westfield and fell in love with it. The only annoying thing is there's no pockets inside so I spend ages everyday searching for various things. It's big enough for everything, folders for work, a change of clothes, a small dog? (I joke) Originally I picked up the tan version but I'm actually quite glad my Mum persuaded me to go with the red as I haven't seen too many people with that colour. I'm actually really liking the faux crocodile one too but not sure I can justify another £80 odd on another handbag.

I wore this outfit yesterday to have Sunday lunch. This Topshop jumper is beautiful and so warm. Alot of people have told me how much it compliments my skin tone and pastel yellow (or any kind of yellow for that matter) isn't a colour I normally wear. Again, teamed with my Marks and Spencer khaki maxi skirt (which FYI has actually completely ripped on the under skirt. Think it's through me wearing it so much but I can't bare to throw it away).

The jumper actually comes in a pastel pink as well, and what with me going to Frankfurt for NYE for a few days I think it's only fair I buy the other colour - it is going to be FREEZING!

The Ellos Blouse.

So I found my camera!

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the lovely people at Brit Bloggers about reviewing an item for them from One Stop Plus and obviously I jumped at the chance. To be honest I wasn't THAT familiar with the site and presumed it was really similar to Evans - full of frumpy, shapeless clothing that I wouldn't really like. I was given the choice of picking an item off the site and wanted to opt for something I don't really wear that much but could style up and put a twist on. I looked through the jeans section (as I NEVER wear jeans) even though I've asked for some from Santa this year but I'm way to fussy when it comes to jeans, so opted for a blouse instead. There are only 2 shirts/blouses in my wardrobe. My favourite one is a sheer coral one from New Look which is years old, but the collar never sits right and I always find it difficult to really know what to wear underneath it. After carefully going through the site I chose the Ellos Blouse.

What attracted me to this straight away was the ribbon collar and lace detailing around the neck line. When it arrived I noticed there was a loop hidden under the collar that held the ribbon in place (brownie points already) but it wasn't stitched down onto the shirt so could put your own ribbon through if you fancied a change.

The fit was absolutely perfect. I got my normal size, but actually think I could have gone down a size too  as it did come up quite big. I loved the sleeve length on this - perfect for the cold weather as it was quite a thick cotton material. The next time I wear it I think I'm going to try it with jeans (that's if Santa drops any down the chimney) as the length was perfect coming just below the bum.

I wore this with my black maxi skirt from Style369 and some grey wool tights - felt I bit like I belonged back in the Victorian era!

I completed the outfit with a faux fur stole and leather jacket from Primark to go to Winter Wonderland and actually took the tights off. MASSIVE MISTAKE! I was absolutely freezing.

I've got to give a massive thumbs up to One Stop Plus for having, maybe just the most beautiful blouse I've ever owned and I actually think £29.99 is so reasonable. Whilst going through the site I did actually find a couple of other bits I may just have to purchase, including this long backed blouse.

What do you guys think? I think this would well really well as workwear too for the office and yet is a perfect day to night item to add with jeans and a big pair of wedges.
