When you walk in the bar, and you're dressed like a star...

...rockin' your fuck me pumps.

Saturday afternoon I logged onto Facebook to see a status update on my feed saying "There's a rumour going around Amy Winehouse is dead". I completely ignored it, I thought it was one of those horrible rumours where people who have nothing better to do sit in front of their computers making up the death of a celebrity.

Around half an hour later I logged onto Twitter and saw my timeline full of Amy Winehouse tweets. I had goosebumps and to be honest felt a bit sick. She couldn't be dead. In my eyes she was invincible. One of the most beautiful women who I completely adored and yes she let me down four times when I, time and time again booked tickets to see her live and she never showed up or cancelled her shows. But dead?

Then it was confirmed. "Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her Camden home at 3:54pm this afternoon due to a suspected drug overdose".

I was/still am completely gutted. There was just something completely magical about this troubled young lady with one of the best voices the music industry has ever seen. In my eyes she completely sits alongside MJ and the other greats. I loved everything about Amy, her voice, her humour, her style and above all her quirkiness. I sat watching the Never Mind The Buzzcocks episode this morning in which she appeared on the panel and completely gave as good as she got when Simon Amstell was taking the mick out of her lifestyle. He turns and says to her "I miss the old Amy, the sober one!" in which she replies "She's dead! She ain't 'ere!".

Since Saturday I've had Frank and Back to Black on repeat, still coming to terms with the fact that she is no longer with us. Her music will be with us forever and I'm hoping she is now finding peace in the place in which she was moved onto.

Every girls dream bedroom...

On Friday after my three hour stint at Lovebox (I will blog about Lovebox seperately) I headed to a beautiful gallery just behind Leicester Square station for the Haagen Dazs Boudoir Experience and my what a treat it was! My best mate applied for tickets through the brands Facebook page and won a session to bring along seven friends for a night in the Boudoir with the Powderpuff girls. We were greeted by two lovely ladies from Haagen Dazs who explained a bit about the event and what to expect. It was after this we were led into what you'd call 'every girls dream bedroom' complete with huge comfy chairs, sofas, a flat screen TV which was playing Juno (my all time favourite film so Haagen Dazs were quickly scoring high brownie points with me), a bar (complete with its own barman) a games console, IPod stereo, enough Elle/Vogue/Fashion books to last us a lifetime and then a fridge FULL of Haagen Dazs ice cream (yep, more brownie points for you Haagen Dazs) The ladies told us to not be shy and stock up on ice cream and drinks from the bar for the next two hours! And my my did we!

It didn't stop there. We were then introduced to the Powerpuff girls who were on hand to give us all full make overs and make up tips throughout the evening. And then the boudoir. I cannot even begin to explain how much I fell in love with this room. A rail full to the brim with gorgeous clothes, more sofas, clutch bags, sunglasses, jewellery and then a CHANDELIER of shoes. Yes I did just say a chandelier of shoes - absolutely amazing. All of which was available for us to try on and dress up as we wanted. The decor was beautiful and had a real vintage feel to it. Including one of those half egg chairs that hang from the ceiling. Okay, I'm sure they aren't actually called "half egg chairs" but you know what I mean!

The clothes were to die for - dresses ranging from DKNY, Matthew Williamson and Vivienne Westwood and beautiful shoes which were provided by Dune and New Look. I even spotted the DKNY jumpsuit that Tulisa wore to the X-Factor auditions which I told my bessie to try on and I think you'll agree she looks stunning!

After playing around with the clothes and shoes and IPADS (!!) we settled down to some yummy canopes and more Peach Bellini's (I think I ended up having about 10) and played Just Dance on the games console whilst others relaxed on the sofas reading the lastest issue of Elle.

It was a truly fantastic girly evening and I would definitely recommend becoming a fan on Facebook and trying to book a session for you and your girls! Massive thank you to Haagen Dazs for being such amazing hosts and also for the free goodie bag (yep - they even give you a treat when you leave too!)

ps - sorry the photos are all in one line - Blogger is playing up and won't let me move them!

Bird? Plane? No.... It's the SUPERBRANDS!

I never really have the patience to trail through the rails of TKMaxx. I have a friend who ALWAYS finds some amazing pieces in there but whenever I go, I find nothing. However, the other week was a different story. I finally put some time aside on a rainy weekday morning so make the effort to go through the rails of my local TKMaxx store in Hammersmith and was left completely surprised.

On one side of the store the Gold label collection where my eyes were feast upon an array of beautiful dresses from Versace to Luella. And on the other the Superbrands collection. What with my upcoming holiday I went over and searched the rails for some summer clothing. The brands amongst the collection include Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Superdry, Roxy and many many more. As I was looking through all I could think in my head was "LA chic" - I don't normally wear brands like Roxy and Bench but I was loving some of the items and could definitely see myself wearing some of them during the day on holiday. Ok I'm going to Las Vegas, not L.A but it could still work!

The clothing comes direct from the designers straight to TKMaxx with up to 60% off - what's not to love? Be quick though, because what's there one day might not be there the next. I was lucky enough to be able to take some items away from store to style up and where better to do the shoot than Brighton beach with the recent heatwave!

Roxy Dress - £12

Henleys Dress - £16.99
Vans - Models own

Roxy Top - £7.99
Yellow Roxy Shorts - £9.99
Roxy Print Kaftan - £12.99

Bench Crop Top - £12.99
Shorts as before

This Bench crop top was my favourite piece. And also is available up to a size XXL - the key to mid cut t-shirts is wearing them that extra bit baggy. I have a few of these style tops which I'll sling on over a maxi or over a vest top with some hareems. This is definitely coming to Vegas with me in September.

Aftershock Top - £12.99
Absolutely love the Versace-esque feel of this top!

The Superbrands collection also includes more high-end designers such as Nicole Farhi. I really like the simplicity of the below t-shirt dress which can be worn as a beach dress or dressed up for a night on the town in the evenings.

Nicole Farhi Dress - £19.99

All accessories featured are from Primark, Accessorize and H'n'M

I also managed to pick up a pair of Levi's and a really cute skirt from Tommy Hilfiger in the collection for under £25! You can view the Superbrands collection at www.tkmaxx.co.uk or if you fancy looking through the treasure trove - head to your nearest store! It'll be worth it.

Big thanks to Jinny for assisting on the shoot and my beautiful friend Lydia for modelling.

And the winner is...

Hi guys

I know I was meant to announce the winner of my Bertie shoes competition on Saturday but my lovely little sister made a surprise visit down to London from Manchester for the weekend and as I don't get to see her much I was spending time with her.

But the lucky winner of those gorgeous Bertie clogs (as chosen by a random number generator) is the lovely Lauren Ding from Pocket Rocket who was the first person to comment on my post - CONGRATULATIONS! I'm rather excited to see how Lauren is going to style these up!

On another note I've developed a slight obsession at the moment with high top Converse trainers and maxi dresses/skirts (see previous post) so on Saturday evening I went to Clapham for my friends Birthday and teamed my new Primark maxi with said Converse. I like the way trainers can give a twist to an otherwise girly outfit - I'm not too sure it would work with any trainers but Converse are a definite win for me. (Sorry about the picture quality - it was taken just as we left the bar on my iphone)

Maxi dress - Primark
Kimono - River Island
Converse - Office
Oversize Clutch - Topshop

In other news I'm on my 7 day countdown to Glee Live at the O2 which is on Sunday (seriously so excited to see Puck in the flesh. I'm a loser I know but I absolutely LOVE Glee) and tomorrow night I'm off to the Aldo party at One Marylebone with Jinny which I'm majorly excited for - is anyone else going?

Before I go...

Just FYI my competition to win the Bertie clogs has now closed and I will be announcing the winner very soon.

Thought I'd share my outfit for tonight with you guys before I leave the house to meet my girls for some drinks. It's spitting with rain but I still refuse to wear a coat. I won't be making a mistake this time and wearing my suede loafers - instead I've opted for some trusty high-top Converse trainers. I think they work really well with this maxi skirt - what do you guys think?

Kimono - Primark
Horse t-shirt - H'n'M
Silver Glitter belt - GAP
Maxi Skirt - Primark
Tribal necklace - H'n'M
Converse - Office

You can't really tell in these photos but I've been watching way to much Made In Chelsea recently and have 'done a Caggie' in painting my nails all different colours. So RAH darling!

Interview - Outfit Post

I need to start becoming a bit more confident in putting pictures of myself up on the blog. I get really paranoid about doing it - not really sure why but I do. I admire bloggers that do and it's something I need to start doing more of.

One of my favourite things about Twitter is looking at all the #todayimwearing tags. I mainly read through blogs to get some outfit inspiration but also reading these on Twitter helps too! On Thursday when I had my interview I told my followers what I was wearing and the lovely Laura from Fluorescent PR tweeted "think we need to see a pic" so I figured why not put it up on the blog?!

I hate going to job interviews looking to conservative. I think its important to try and not move away from your own personal style. I appreciate this may be easier to do for a job in fashion rather than an high end office job. I'm not a black skirt and shirt kinda gal - never have been! Apart from school uniform obviously *shudders*

So this is what I wore (apologies for looking a bit miserable in this pic - I went straight from my interview, back to my internship and had been up since 5am!)

White Blazer - Marks & Spencer
Breton Tee - New Look
Blue Colour Block Maxi - Primark
Necklace - Vivienne Westwood
Purple Stone Ring - From a market in Alicante, Spain

Loafers - New Look

Blue Stone Ring - Topshop
Black Stone Ring - Dorothy Perkins
Tribal Cuff - Evans

What are your outfit choices for job interviews?

These Girls First Giveaway

Now I've reached 50 followers I thought it might be nice to do my first giveaway on the blog. The lovely girls at Bertie were kind enough to donate a pair of Dana clogs (worth £95) for one of you lucky ladies to win! I must admit I spotted these at the Bertie Blogger's Event but then the Prespa wedges got in the way ;)

These are seen as more of a winter shoe but I think with the right styling they can be rocked for the summer season. Actually I say summer, I think I've witnessed every season there is today! What is up with this British weather?

Personally I think I would wear these with a tied baggy t-shirt and denim shorts. And all you lovely lot have to do is leave a comment in the comment box on this post and also follow my blog via Google Connect to be in with a chance of winning. You can also tweet: RT @MissAmySimon to win a pair of Bertie clogs #bloggiveaway www.thesegirlsturnheads.blogspot.com

Shoes are a UK Size 7.
