Ring Ring!

I know, another post about Rings but I thought I'd share my most recent purchases with you. My theory with Rings - the bigger the better! And this rule certainly applies for this first one. £15 at Topshop and so worth it. I'm unable to find it on the Topshop website but it is definitely still in store. I love the length and the turquoise stones in this and it updates any outfit instantly!

Orange Stone Ring - £3.99 H'n'M/Long Turquoise Ring - £14.99 Topshop/Silver and Stone Ring £180 Jessie Western

My next purchase to share is something I've had on my wishlist for a long while now - an Alexander McQueen Skull Ring. I was lucky enough to pick up a Skull scarf on my last visit to Bicester Village for £130 (RRP normally around £180) and if you haven't been to Bicester it's definitely worth a visit if just for the McQueen, Mulberry and Vivienne Westwood outlet stores - I've found a bargain in all three each time I've been. I'm not too sure how much the Skull rings retail at but this one was only £70. Granted I'll be living off of baked beans for the rest of the month however I'll be doing it with fashionable fingers!

Hannah Makes Things

As a complete jewellery addict I'm always looking for quirky bits and pieces to add to my ongoing jewellery collection and I first heard of Hannah Make Things back in December when I received a beautiful Gaga name necklace as a gift from a friend.

Now the lovely Hannah is letting you get creative in making your own charm bracelets. The charms range from pretty peace symbols, quirky cassette tapes and cute bird houses. Friendship style bracelets have been seen on the wrists of celebs ranging from Fearne Cotton to the ever cool Vanessa Hudgens (yes, I did say ever cool - I have a slight style crush on this lady). You can keep things simple with just one charm or stack 'em up a la Hudgens!

The bracelets are available in 13 colours and are only £4 - be sure to pick a bright one to add a pop of colour to your outfit.

Get Your Jazz Out! (Trousers that is!)

I don't know about anyone else but as much as I love the sunshine, getting dressed everyday rather frustrates me. I find it so much easier to dress in the Winter than I do in the Summer. It's probably because I HATE showing my arms, I hate getting my legs out and generally get quite self conscious showing any skin. But on Saturday I sucked it up. I was going for lunch in Portobello Road and knew it would be hot, sweaty and full of tourists and I just couldn't hack the thought of covering up in a pair of trusty Primark leggings. So I did the unthinkable and actually got my pins out. I must admit I felt uncomfortable but eventually just dealt with it. I ordered the ASOS Curve Heart Print Dress last week and luckily it was just below my knees (short dresses are a HUUUUUUGE no no for me) teamed the dress with a pair of metallic gold Converse and a River Island Kimono and off I trotted. And yes, I did get caught in that awful monsoon! Anyway, moving onto the point of this blog post (I shall blog about the dress another time)...

My Summer essential this season? The printed hareem/cropped trouser! I invested in a pair from H'n'M in Berlin and over the Bank Holiday Weekend whipped them out for the first time. I'm telling you, these go with anything! Flats, wedges, a cropped tee, kimono and what's great is how you can work one of the key SS11 trends of clashing prints. I wore my zebra printed ones with a floral chiffon kimono (yes ever since getting this beaut Kimono as an Easter pressie I haven't been able to take it off) and cropped t-shirt which is last season Topshop! Take inspiration from Cavalli and find unusual prints to sport this summer and team with even more prints on top!

I've searched the net to find some top picks and if you're like me and don't enjoy getting your legs out that much then these are your answer for still looking cool and on trend. These 3 below are all available from Dorothy Perkins.

Me and the lovely Jinny from Running in Platforms enjoying our first summer BBQ of 2011! My Kimono is River Island and available in store, trousers are H'n'M, black vest top (just seen) New Look and grey crop t-shirt from Topshop (last season)

Tops picks from H'n'M:

 £12.99
£14.99

And if you really want to push the boat out these amazing Scotch Maison Tribal Print Harems are available at ASOS for £93.50. These look gorge with tan brogues and a sheer blouse for a sophisticated  evening look!

Have you guys found any amazing printed trousers anywhere? If so - do share!

Beautiful Bertie...

On Wednesday evening I was one of the lucky Bloggers to be invited to Bertie's Blogger Evening at their James Street store in Covent Garden. After attending their last event I knew it was something not to be missed and I certainly wasn't disappointed!

I was surrounded by some gorgeous shoes from Bertie’s new SS11 collection, not only that but a bucket full of Crabbie’s Ginger Beer, a photobooth (complete with some fun props), a popcorn machine, DJ and of course lots of beautiful bloggers.

Now, I’m not really into shoes that much. Give me a pair of ballerina flats for the day and some plain wedges for the evening and I’m all set. But my oh my, was this about to change. Recently I’ve become a bit of a wedge-o-holic and these peep toe ones were the first to catch my eye. Available in black and tan these beauties are just thing to rock with a sheer shirt and some hareems for the spring. What with all the beautiful weather we’ve been having recently – it’s time to start pushing the winter garments to the back of your wardrobes and bring out the spring clothing!

Last season I was lusting after Bertie brogues and walked away with a red pair with purple velvet laces and this season they yet again have produced more fabulous pairs! These tasseled ones come in red, brown and navy with contrasting coloured tassels. So beautiful! I was really torn between the navy ones and the red...

But then I spotted these...

These cherry buckle wedges were being picked up left, right and centre by everyone and safe to say they were the most popular shoe of the evening so I knew I had to have them. They have a really grungy feel but the maroon colour made them girly at the same time. I knew these would go perfectly with my floral midi skirt from Urban Outfitters and sequin moustache tee from River Island. I didn’t even bother trying them on because I knew straight away they were coming home with me. I left it to lovely Catherine to let me know what the fit was like and then headed straight to the till.

Check out some more of the collection...

I also would very much like this bag in my life!

Catherine, Jinny and I have having fun in the photobooth. (Don't ask what on earth I am doing in the second picture)

Massive thank you to the team at Bertie for putting on such a fabulous event and the wonderful goody bag (yes there was a goody bag on top of the free shoes - we were spoilt!) It was really lovely to meet more bloggers at the event, including the guys from Louder than Silence, beautiful blog which if you haven't read - go and take a look!

So what are your favourites from the collection? Were you at the Bertie event? If so which ones did you nab?

Vivienne Westwood for Comic Relief

On Thursday morning I was invited by the lovely team at Fluorescent PR to attend at blogger’s breakfast at the TK Maxx store on Charing Cross Road to celebrate the launch of the new Comic relief t-shirts. The range has been designed by none other than Vivienne Westwood and each incorporates the fun and quirky feel of Red Nose Day.

All t-shirts are available online and in store now ranging from Blackadder characters to funky punks (my personal favourite). All proceeds are going to Comic Relief and are organic, plus this year Liberty have also joined the wagon and designed an exclusive range of canvas shoppers and floral printed scarves which look perfect with the punk tee.

Celebrities including Ellie Goulding, Sienna Miller and David Walliams have been modelling the t-shirts and kicking off the comic relief festivities so do your part and purchase either online or instore and help raise money for children across the UK and Africa.

Grab your 5 a day!

As most of you will be aware one of the key trends this Spring/Summer is fruit but not the kind you might find in your kitchen bowl. I'm talking about fabulous kitsch fruit jewellery. Miu Miu and Prada are leading us in the fruit race and Net-A-Porter have sold out of their fabulous Swarovski Crystal Apple Earrings. (I'm hoping that these will be back in stock very very soon and I can channel my inner Cheryl Cole and look as beautiful as her in them!)

Cheryl in the SOLD OUT Miu Miu Apple Earrings at net-a-porter.com

Until these Miu Miu ones become available again, the high street have their healthy options to choose from and your New Year's healthy eating plan will soon become very easy with these. Apples seem to be key but any fruit works so don't be afraid to pile on the bananas, apples and strawberries!

ASOS Apple Rhinestone Ring £15

Topshop Apple Pendant £8.50

Accessorize Strawberry Pendant £5

And for the very brave these fabulous Charlotte Olympia heels are sure to draw attention when you step out in Spring. Perfect with a colour block shift dress. *DROOL*

Happy New Year!

Hi Guys

A very Happy New Year to you all and I really hope you enjoyed your various celebrations. I spent the night ogling over Mark Ronson for all of five minutes. We arrived late for his set so I only caught the last part - still felt like I was in heaven though!!

So 2011 eh? I have a list of New Year's Resolutions as long as my arm and am definitely going to try my best to stick to them. One of the biggest ones being to blog more often. The aim of 'These Girls Turn Heads' was originally to take photos of girls who caught my eye whilst I was out and about around London town. Sometimes its hard to approach people and ask for a photo of them without them thinking you are a complete weirdo. But this year I am determined to shake of the nerves and get papping around the streets of London.

On another note, before Christmas I kept telling myself that no matter what I would be forceful in my sale shopping this year but unfortunately I got quite ill with the dreaded flu bug that was going around. Bleurgh. I managed some shopping on ASOS (nothing quite like browsing the sales through the comfort of your own bed) and picked up the gorgeous Curve Peter Pan Collar dress I've been lusting after for a while. I let the hype (and flu) dye down before I hit Oxford Street and when I did I have to say it wasn't as hellish as I thought it might be! I managed to get a beautiful sequin lace top from Topshop (couldn't believe it actually fit me) and a beautiful 70s-esque Kimono. I am in serious love with this top and it's perfect for me because I hate showing my arms!!

And this is me in this beauty on New Year's Eve, paired with this gorgeous gold leaf dress from the Evans sale - a bargain at £25.

I'm also very excited about the London Blogger Meet on February 5th that Carla and Lauren are organising! Very much looking forward to meeting everyone.

Here's to a very happy and healthy 2011 for you all
